Privacy Policy
1. About this policy
"EmoChatLive" ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that, while you watch live streams and chats on YouTube, Twitch and Kick, provides visual effects that react to chat activity, one-click template comments, watch records, fan levels and other features. This policy explains what information the extension, the official website and the mobile view handle, and how we use it.
The "mobile view" is a read-only web page you can open in a phone browser. If you sign in with the same Google account as in the extension, it shows your own watch records, achievements and rankings. The mobile view does not change your records and does not collect new information.
2. Key points
- We do not send chat messages to our servers. All analysis of chat (such as detecting hype) happens only inside your browser.
- Most features work without signing in. In that case, your records stay only inside your browser and nothing is sent to our servers.
- Only if you sign in with Google do we store your settings, watch records and what you post in Oshi Town on our server (Supabase, Tokyo region, Japan) so they can follow you across devices.
- Rankings show your display name and viewing totals only if you choose to join. The default is not to participate.
- The extension and this website contain no advertising, no ad tracking and no analytics script. We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising. External services (the host of this website, the Chrome Web Store) may collect access records through their own mechanisms; see section 5.
3. Information we handle
3.1 If you do not sign in (stored only inside your browser)
The following is stored in your browser's chrome.storage.local. It is not sent to our servers.
| Information | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Settings (theme, text size, effects, sensitivity, graphs, filters, flying comments, etc.) | To keep your settings |
| Template comments | For one-click sending |
| History of comments you sent (latest 50) | To show your send history. Never leaves your device |
| Watch records (per channel: watch time, number of comments sent, number of template sends, number of times chat reached the "Blazing" level and the even higher "Inferno" level) | For the achievements display and fan levels |
| Chat-volume records of streams you watched (number of messages per time slice and concurrent viewers; no message text) | For the chat-volume graph and momentum meter |
| Names of users you have blocked | For the block feature |
| Background and avatar images | For appearance settings (images stay on your device) |
| Streak days | To show streak days |
| A device ID | To tell devices apart when syncing |
3.2 If you sign in: information sent to our server
If you sign in with Google, the following is stored in Supabase (the database service we use). This list is everything we currently collect.
| Information | Purpose |
|---|---|
Google account identifier, email address and name (sign-in scopes: openid email profile) | To sign you in |
| Display name, whether you take part in rankings (overall and per channel), and the order of your achievements | To show rankings |
| Settings (the settings in the table above, excluding images, plus template comments) | To carry them across devices |
| Watch records (per channel: watch time, live watch time, number of comments sent, number of template sends, number and last time chat reached the "Blazing" level, number of times it reached the even higher "Inferno" level, first time you watched, and two counters for features not yet released that are sent as 0) and information about the channels you watched (name, ID, icon) | To carry them across devices and for rankings |
| Daily activity summaries (watch time, number of comments, number of "Blazing" and "Inferno" moments, points for a feature not yet released) | To show your activity history |
| Your Stars (stars you collect by watching, usable only inside the extension): the total earned and the total used, the watch time already converted into Stars and the remainder under one minute, and the start time and count of the current 24-hour window used for the daily limit | To show your Stars balance and for ways to use them (such as name decorations; not yet released). The server decides how many you earn, from the watch time it has verified. Stars cannot be bought, exchanged for money or anything else, or transferred to other people. Your balance is not shown to other users or to streamers |
| A summary of chat speed for each live stream you watched (stream ID, channel, stream title, the time range you watched, messages per minute, the time and count of the busiest minute, peak concurrent viewers). Sent once per stream after you finish watching. Replays are not included | For Oshi Town's "Highlights Timeline", which aggregates how exciting each stream was. Contains no message text and nothing about who wrote the messages (only numbers calculated from counts) |
| Counts of "chat moods" per live stream (how many messages matched laughter, applause, cute, hype, thanks and tears, and how many times chat reached the "Blazing" level). Sent together with the stream summary | To set Oshi Town's "town weather" from the previous day's mood. Contains no message text and nothing about who wrote the messages. The weather uses only ratios combined across many users; who sent what is not kept |
| "Likes" you give in the drawing-canvas gallery (which town's canvas, which month) | To sort the gallery. Who liked what is never shown to other users or streamers (only counts). Deleted after 13 months |
| Monthly end-of-month totals per channel (watch time, comment counts and similar, as verified by the server). Recorded even if you do not take part in rankings | To show how rankings changed month by month (display feature not yet released). Only people taking part in rankings at that time are shown |
| Your Oshi Town activity: stickers you placed (type, position, date), canvas cells you painted (cell, colour, date; held until the daily update and for the last 14 days so you can see "yesterday's result"), that you took part in that month's canvas, and places you reported | To run Oshi Town (a shared sticker board and drawing canvas per channel) and to deal with abuse. Who placed, painted or reported is never shown to other users or streamers |
| Oshi Town ranking snapshots (rank, numbers and display name at midnight JST). Only people taking part in rankings | To show the ranking on the town's notice board (only the latest snapshot is kept and it is rebuilt daily) |
| Names of users you have blocked | To carry them across devices |
| A device ID | To tell devices apart when syncing |
Not sent to the server: chat message text, your send history, background and avatar images. Tip or Super Chat amounts and the name of your own account on the streaming site are not read at all.
3.3 Information the extension reads from streaming pages
The extension reads the following from the page and processes it inside your browser.
- Chat messages (to detect hype, show effects, filter and block). They are not sent to our servers.
- Whether the video is playing (to record watch time). Time during ads is not counted.
- The name, ID and icon of the channel you are watching, and the concurrent viewer count (for per-channel records and graphs).
- That a Super Chat or membership (YouTube) or a cheer (Twitch) arrived (Kick tips are not read). Amounts and who sent them are not read.
- On YouTube, also on watch pages without chat, whether the video is playing and the channel information, to record watch time.
The extension adds its features only on youtube.com, twitch.tv and kick.com. It also contains a dormant component for extensionpay.com, reserved for a future optional feature; the current version does not use it or communicate with it. It does not read your browsing history, and it never touches your login or tokens on those sites.
3.4 Information we receive when you contact us
If you send us your name (optional), a reply email address and the type and content of your inquiry through the contact form (Google Forms) or by email, we use it to reply, to handle the inquiry and to improve the extension. The form is run on Google's service. Please do not enter passwords or card numbers in the form.
4. Purposes of use
- To provide the extension's features (hype effects, templates, watch records, fan levels, Stars, rankings)
- To carry settings and records across devices
- To run Oshi Town (sticker board, drawing canvas, shared milestones, Highlights Timeline, rankings) and to aggregate hype per stream
- To prevent fraudulent records (such as inflated watch time). Rankings use only what the server has verified
- To review and respond to inquiries and to improve the extension
We do not use information for advertising, for sale, or for any purpose unrelated to the extension's features. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
5. Sharing, and the services that process data for us
We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only as follows.
- Rankings: if you choose to join, your display name and viewing totals are shown to other users who see the same ranking (per channel and overall), together with the achievements you earned on that channel and the order you chose for them. The numbers behind the achievements are not shown. The default is not to participate.
- Oshi Town: the sticker board, the canvas drawings and each channel's combined watch time (shared milestones) are shown to other signed-in users. Only the pictures and the combined numbers are shown; who placed, painted or watched is not (except the display name and totals of people who joined rankings).
- Highlights Timeline (Oshi Town): only numbers combined across many users (such as "2.3× the usual hype") and stream titles are shown. Who watched which stream is never shown to other users or to streamers.
- Town weather and gallery (Oshi Town): only the result derived from combined ratios (sunny, rain, and so on), the finished canvases of the previous month and like counts are shown.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of users and others.
Services that process data on our behalf
| Service | Purpose | Information handled |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (Supabase Pte. Ltd., Singapore) | Storing data and authenticating sign-in. Data is stored in Japan (Tokyo region) | The information in 3.2 |
| Google (Google LLC, United States) | Google sign-in | During sign-in, Google passes your account identifier, email address and name to us. We do not send chat or watch records to Google |
| Google (Google LLC, United States) | Receiving inquiries (form and email) | The content of your inquiry (name (optional), email address, content), processed on Google's service |
| GitHub (GitHub, Inc., United States) | Hosting this website and the mobile view | Connection records (such as IP addresses) may be collected by GitHub's own mechanisms when you open a page. We do not receive them |
| Google (Chrome Web Store) | Distributing the extension and the store listing page | The store may collect access records on its listing page under Google's own policies. We receive only aggregate statistics (such as installs and page views), never user-level data |
Where data is stored: the information we store on our server is stored on Supabase's servers in Japan (Tokyo region), regardless of the country you use the service from. By signing in, you understand that your information is transferred to and processed in Japan, whose data-protection rules may differ from those of your country.
6. Retention and deletion
| Information | Retention |
|---|---|
| Information inside your browser | Until you remove the extension or clear your browser data |
| What the mobile view keeps on your phone (sign-in state and the records it loaded that day) | Loaded once a day; cleared when you sign out or clear your browser data |
| Server information (3.2) | While your account exists. Deleted when: you delete your account from the settings page (immediately); you ask us by email to delete it (within 30 days after we verify it is you); or the account has not been used (no signed-in use or sync) for 24 months |
| Backups | We do not currently make database backups. Our service providers may keep logs for operational purposes under their own retention rules |
| Information received through inquiries (name, email address, content) | Kept for 1 year after the inquiry is closed, then deleted |
Deleting your account: you can delete it yourself at any time from "Delete account" on the extension's settings page. Information in the database linked to you (profile, settings, watch records, Stars and so on) is deleted immediately. This cannot be undone. Records inside your own device are not erased (they are erased when you remove the extension).
- Your per-stream summaries are deleted too. The stream catalogue (stream ID, title, channel) is not linked to anyone and remains.
- Your Oshi Town reservations, participation records, reports and ranking snapshots are deleted. Works made together with others (stickers on the board, canvas drawings) and the combined Highlights Timeline and milestone totals remain, because they are aggregated from many users. Even then, the link between you and your stickers is removed.
- After deletion you can sign in again with the same Google account; you will start as a new account.
7. Your rights
You may ask us to access, correct, stop using or delete your information by emailing the address above from the email address of the Google account you registered with. After confirming your identity we will respond without undue delay, in principle within 30 days. You can delete your account and leave rankings yourself at any time from the settings page. The mobile view has no delete or settings functions; please use the extension's settings page. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may also complain to the data-protection authority of your country or region.
8. Names of blocked users
Names of other users that you block are stored on the server as your own data if you sign in and sync. They are never shown to other users.
9. Children
The service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have done so, we will delete it promptly. If you are 13 or older but under the age of majority in your country or region, please use the service with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Parents or guardians who want a child's information disclosed or deleted can contact us at the address above.
10. Security
Server data is configured so that only you can read and write your own information (except the display name, totals and achievements of people who joined rankings). Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). If a personal-data breach occurs, we will notify the relevant authorities and the people affected as required by law.
11. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update this page and the date at the top. We announce important changes on the official website before they take effect.
